Photos Exposed to the Chemicals That Pollute the Environments They Depict

Photos Exposed to the Chemicals That Pollute the Environments They Depict|#shyamis

The effects produced by various development methods are one of the most interesting variables in analogue photography, but it's rare that processing has an actual conception relation with a photo's subject matter. New Jersey photographer Brandon Seidler, however — whose work we spotted via Feature Shoot — explores the idea of photos being images literally produced by a chemical reaction, to fascinating effect. Seidler's work documents locations affected by chemical spills, and he manipulates his film with the very same substances that have effected the environments he's photographing. The results are stark and thought-provoking — but also possessed of a weird, otherworldly beauty.
